Seeking new volunteers!

March 2025: We have a new strategic plan for 2025-2027 and we are recruiting more board members and volunteers to work towards more equitable care for all HG patients in Ireland.

All volunteers need:

  • The ability to work remotely and independently, particularly by email.
  • To be a proactive, clear, and responsive communicator
  • A working fluency in English; other languages spoken in Ireland would be a plus.
  • Experience with HG as a patient, carer, or healthcare provider would be helpful.

Role 1: Trustees +/ Subcommittee members

We are particularly looking for those with experience in the following areas:

  • Experience relevant to Board Secretary/Treasurer/leadership, particularly in the non-profit/charity/voluntary sector
  • Bookkeeping/financial tracking
  • Management & governance: familiarity with the Charities Governance Code would be a plus
  • Obstetrics, midwifery, or other healthcare professionals or researchers involved in perinatal care, postnatal care, or mental health.
  • Communications, particularly PR or healthcare

Please go to boardmatch.ie to read the full description and details

Role 2: Social media & Email volunteers

What you’d do:-

  • Develop content for our social media, in partnership with other volunteers
  • Respond to any messages, shares, etc and pass on any queries to the appropriate board member/volunteer (e.g.: press queries). This would be on public social media, on our private support group, and on our support@ email address.
  • Support any planned campaigns, Lives, and Q&As

Skills & experience

  • Commitment to confidentiality essential
  • Experience with social media as a user, particularly Instagram (we are also on Facebook, Threads and Bluesky currently - you do not necessarily need experience with all of them). Experience with social media in a professional capacity would be great but not essential.
  • Familiarity with Canva or similar content creation services would be great, but not essential as long as you are willing to learn!

Time commitment

  • Flexible: approx 2h/week, working with 1-3 other volunteers and planned around your time available.

How to apply

Please email news@hyperemesis.ie with “Trustee/Volunteer application” as the subject line; within the email include short answers to the following questions:

  • What is your experience of HG?
  • What impact do you want to have for HG patients in Ireland?
  • Why do you want to be on the board/a volunteer?

You may also attach a CV in PDF or .doc format.

Deadline for applications is 30th April 2025. Interviews will be held online, with the aim to have new volunteers in place from June 2025.
